This is a fantastic 2 day trek that enables you to hike from Cusco across to the Sacred Valley. Even though it would appear to be in a populated area, you soon discover the true wildness of the Andes. This is a fantastic hike and Huchuy Qosqo (Small Cusco) are an interesting set of ruins that are believed to have been abandoned by the time the Spanish arrived in Peru. You can do this hike and also visit Machu Picchu.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Tauca-pumamarca- huchuy qosqo
We leave Cusco early, and take private transport to to the small Village of Tauca (3750m/12303ft), Starting to hiking we will have a beautiful view of the Andean mountains after an hour we will have an impressive view of the sacred valley of the Incas and also the majestic mountain range of the Andes, (range of vilcanota) such as, Veronica, Pitusiray, Chicon and San Juan snow peaks. As you ascend towards the pass at (4050m/13287ft), the landscape begins to change dramatically to the classic of High Andean Savannah or Puna, with scant vegetation, mainly “ichu” or high altitude grass. Descending we will hiking by original Inca road, that comes from sacsayhuaman, retreating in the time, appreciating some Incas remains along the trail (pumamarca), that arrives until the citadel, this section is unique, crossing a small canyon towards the sacred valley of the Incas and finally Walking downhill half one hour huchuy qosqo inca city(little Cusco) (3400m/11154F),near of the inca city there is small community,there we wil spend the rest of the day,we interacting with the local family we will have the dinner and will Spending the night in the family’s home, from this place you will have the most amazing view of the Milky Way, and the Andean constellations.we don’t have Light pollution
Day 2: – Huchuy Qosqo- lamay – Cusco
After breakfast, We will walk downhill fifteen minutes to visit the beautiful city of huchuyqosqo there we will see in our tour a beautiful polygonal stilled architecture an imposing building of three levels, first two levels polished stone and last one adobe (blocks of mud and straw) that beat the time, As well as temples, water fountains, terraces adapting to the landscape, main square always oriented towards the sunrise, we will visit about two hours. From here it is three and a half hours stunning but steep and slippery descent into the Sacred Valley. We will have a late lunch in the typical and untouristed village of Lamay best palce to try cuy (guinea pick). From here, our private car will pick us up and return us to Cusco. If we have time spare, you might like to ask your driver to stop in the Pisaq village or Awanacancha, where you can pet camelids and learn about the region’s weaving traditions.
